Trip To College
“Site makes college planning a family affair.”
CHALLENGE
Indiana Youth Institute and the Lilly Foundation decided that they needed a resource for parents of the students that were making plans for high school and college using the Drive of Your Life (driveofyourlife.org) website. Envisioned then is what has become the portal where parents, and students alike, can go to explore a wealth of facts and resources pertaining to a college education, including; financing an education, how to apply for and acquire federal aid, who qualifies (and who doesn’t), merit-based scholarships, all courses offered by all Indiana colleges, what is true and what is myth, and more.
INSIGHT
When it comes to college information, there’s a LOT online – but all too often it can be difficult to find, complicated, confusing, outdated, or even incorrect. How can you sort through it all to get what you really need? The goal of Trip to College is to help parents and students sort through the information and find the answers they that will help them.
e-STRATEGY
The same team that planned and developed the Drive of Your Life web portal was called in to work on the Trip To College site. With the help of a professional team of college preparation consultants, a plan was devised to create a site that would include tools and information that meet the most frequent needs of prospective college parents.
SOLUTION
Trip to College is an online parent’s resource that provides helpful information and “myth-busters” regarding access to a college education. As the sister site to Drive of Your Life, it features a dynamic area where Indiana colleges update their course offerings through a browser interface. There are also calculators, resource links, a generous glossary of terms and other tools that parents find useful in planning for their child’s college education.
