Kirby Building Systems

CHALLENGE

To redesign the Kirby Building Systems website to accurately reflect the company's role as a major player in the manufacturing sector that produces thousands of tons of high-end metal building components every year. Of equal importance to the look and feel of the new design was the necessity for an intuitive navigation structure and emphasis on page content and structure for search engine optimization. Finally, Kirby sought a dynamic data-driven backend that would allow any member of their internal web team to add and update page content through any Internet connected computer.

INSIGHT

Kirby Building Systems has been working with GlobalMagic for their web solutions since we designed their first website in the mid-1990s. Kirby, a division of Magnatrax Corporation, approached GlobalMagic with their desire to build a data-driven web site with an updated design and layout. Kirby Building Systems is a leading manufacturer of custom-engineered, high-quality, cost-effective metal building systems for a full range of non-residential needs - commercial, industrial, institutional, recreational and most other specialty applications. Kirby takes pride in its ability to fulfill their customers’ total functional and appearance goals, from the simple to the complex.

e-STRATEGY

GlobalMagic’s e-Strategy team met early-on with Kirby’s web and marketing teams to devise a structured plan for the design, development and launch of the new site. The website layout and design needed to comply with Kirby’s existing corporate branding and imaging standards. New for this version of the site is dynamic, data-driven content from an online SQL server and the incorporation of browser-based administrative tools for the Kirby web team. Content and keywords were written for optimum search engine placement. The overall goal of the project: to boost traffic to the web site, ultimately resulting in an increase in company sales.

RESULT

Kirby customers and builders now benefit from more company and product information than has been available in the past. Plus, with the new look and feel, information is easier to find and is accessible through all browsers and platforms. The dynamic nature of the site allows Kirby administrators to keep their product and company information up-to-date with no web site development skills or experience necessary. Structured page content and carefully researched keywords and other meta tags are working to gain Kirby top placement in major search engines such as Google and Yahoo.
