IPL Site Administrators Take Control

This should sound familiar. It had been over eight years since IPL’s last website launch. Vast changes had taken place online in those years including the widespread implementation of Internet site Content Management Systems (CMS). The promise of CMS is in its ability to standardize the performance, look, navigability, and functionality of a site. Additionally a CMS should allow IPL web site administrators - regardless of web page authoring experience, to add, update, and delete content across the expanse of hundreds of pages.

The Big Idea:

Develop an Attractive Interface and Intuitive Site Architecture

Sometimes the best ‘big idea’ is a remarkably simple one. Since our goal was to deliver a site that the people of IPL could use to communicate with their customers, our plan was to meet with each department to survey needs and interests in deliverables. From these meetings came a comprehensive set of brand identity standards and desired customer experience visions. As is often the case, GlobalMagic team worked closely with the customer to help create this complete solution including designing the user interface, planning the page layouts and site architecture - the complete online experience. In short, to be considered a success, GlobalMagic would have to deliver a site that could reflect the living, breathing hub of the IPL brand.

Our Approach

Build a Custom Integrated Solution:

From a technology standpoint, the challenge was substantial. We needed to create and deliver an administrative set of design and page layout templates that unified all brand information under one umbrella and could be seamlessly incorporated into the CMS code. The system was required to support multiple platforms, user screen resolutions, and operating systems. Based on these challenges and requirements set forth by IPL, GlobalMagic engineered a sophisticated custom integration with IPL's chosen CMS. Site administrators now add content and images in the CMS backend with full confidence that the pages will display flawlessly and uniformly regardless of visitor configurations, hardware, and software/programs installations.
