“Kid appeal steers kids in the right direction.”

CHALLENGE

The Indiana Youth Institute came back to GlobalMagic when they realized that what was needed was an updated, more navigable website. They were in search of a site with dynamic, database-driven sections that could be easily updated by IYI’s staff directly through any Internet connected web browser. The many resources collected by IYI and the in-house Virginia Beall Ball Library needed organization online, and the ability to be searchable and the resources interrelated throughout the site. IYI web team members also expressed a need to sell publications and allow youth workers to register for conferences and training sessions through a secure shopping cart and checkout process.

INSIGHT

The Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) is a leading source of information and tools for nonprofit Indiana youth organizations. They reach educators, policymakers, government officials, and others who can impact the quality of life for Indiana children as they promote healthy youth development in Indiana communities. IYI's programs and services are organized into three areas: useful information, practical tools, and the promotion of positive youth development. Each program or service is available to Indiana youth workers free of charge or at minimal cost.

e-STRATEGY

GlobalMagic’s e-Strategy team met extensively with IYI staff members to devise a plan that when instituted would result in a site that could meet (and often exceed) all project expectations and goals.  Devising a system for building relationships between all the different types of resources contained within the site proved particularly challenging. After many hours of brainstorming and planning, a dynamic solution was invented and applied.

SOLUTION

This version of the IYI Internet site is GlobalMagic’s third over a six-year period.  For this iteration, the client requested the ability to add/edit/delete pages and graphic files throughout the site. The site also features a dynamic shopping cart and convention registration module. GlobalMagic worked closely with IYI staff and volunteers to arrive at the design of the site’s navigational structure which allows easy access to the hundreds of pages within the project.
