Alpha Chi Omega

CHALLENGE

National sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, had a web presence, but its site was static and lacking the interactive capabilities to inform or involve existing members, or to attract potential members. Leaders at both the chapter and national level wanted to convert the site into a dynamic, data-driven website that would engage visitors and achieve a variety of needs, including:

• deliver information to potential members to generate greater interest
• enable membership coordinators to post rush, pledge and member data
• allow online registration of events, particularly the National Convention
• provide site administrators the ability to easily update content through a browser interface
• facilitate the secure sharing of tips, news and recommendations by chapter members

INSIGHT

Our e-strategy team conducted extensive one-on-one focus groups with headquarter departments to ensure each group would be well served by the redeveloped website. We also met with members at the college level to see how they were using the site and how we could make it a better resource for them.

e-STRATEGY

Our strategy was to redesign the website to house the many interactive features desired and make them available through an intuitive interface that could serve all existing and aspiring members regardless of web knowledge or experience. Members would be able to quickly and easily locate and use a suite of online resources. College women interested in learning more about Alpha Chi Omega could access a bevy of information posted online by chapters, including invitations to local functions.

SOLUTION

We delivered a website with a redesigned graphical interface, navigation system, and upgraded registration, search, administration, planning and content tools. The new, member-focused site guides visitors through the history, traditions, goals and unique attributes of the sorority. Functionally, the site allows members to interact by sharing data on themselves and the chapter. There is a housing and member directory with search by location and/or name. The annual convention registration module enables members to register online for convention meetings, day trips, seminars and tours, as well as hotel rooms and meals.
