Salespeople and Service Managers at 40 of the US Mercedes-Benz dealerships will be getting to try out iPads in order to better service their customers. They didn't create a new iPad app, though, instead Mercedes converted their existing web portal into a web app to work on the iPad. Dealerships have already been using a web-based app on their PCs. One of the biggest changes necessary was the removal of Flash content. (Yet another shot fired at Flash in the Apple-Adobe war.)

After a proper build up since, Versace has finally revealed their new Unique smartphone. Falling into the ‘luxury cellphones’ category the new handset offers an alternative to the Vertu range with a sleek design and clean features when compared to other luxury gadgets that are usually covered in rhinestones or plated with gold.
LG is responsible for it’s technical interior and it features a rather standard 3" touchscreen, a 5MP camera with a built-in flash, 3G, and an e-mail client. Unique’s MP3/video media layer with Dolby Mobile surround sound features up to 30 hours of playtime. Nothing else is specified with regards to the OS, or any other details. However, it is unlikely it will surprise the market as the model is mainly advertised for its brand rather than innovation.
Like most overpriced items, the Unique has no price tag at the moment but it will most likely be available in high-end watch and jewellery networks and Versace flagship boutiques across the globe starting in June.

Google has taken a radical turn to the selling strategy of the smart phone Nexus One, announcing that it would stop selling over the Internet first, in the U.S., and then in the rest of the world.
As an explanation for the withdrawal of its Android mobile sales via the web, Google has said only that the results were not expected. Something the company interpreted as a result of consumer preference to see the smartphone physically before buying it. This means the Nexus One will be available globally through select phone retail stores.
“While the general adoption of the Android platform has exceeded our expectations, the online shop didn’t. It is clear that many customers want practical experience before buying a phone and a wide range of service plans to choose from “, drew attention from the company’s blog.
With this modification, Google wants to give its customers the opportunity to try out the phone before buying and to facilitate its scope. “We believe the changes we are announcing today will help more people get phones faster, which is good for the entire Android ecosystem,” comment from Google.
